Social issues are issues that affect many people- not just one character in a story. They are many times, big, complicated problems that are not easily solved. In this study, we will learn about the issues of Bullying, Stereotypes, Identity & Differences, Poverty & Homelessness, and Family Issues.  In addition to reading books, articles, and poems, we will also use digital resources to enhance our understanding of the issues and make connections between different types of media.

As you read, listen, and view the digital resources and basket of books in the classroom, consider what you are learning about the social issue. How does what you see or read connect with the issue? What questions do you still wonder? What do you want to share with your group members? Be sure to take notes on your ideas to be able to have your conversations!

Click on the image to access the digital resources for that social issue.
